Thoughts on family

We had my Grandpa's funeral this past Saturday, almost two weeks after he was admitted to the hospital.  It was a blessing that he was in the hospital for a week with good days and bad days because it gave a chance to say good bye and come to terms with his passing.  I talked to him the Thursday before he died, his last good day, and even though the conversation wasn't totally clear, it was good to hear his voice.  James and I spent Sunday afternoon at the hospital with my Grandma and Steve.  Jordan, Lindsey and Lauren were there too.  As well as Kevin, Heather and Abby; my grandparent's neighbors.  I'm glad we were able to spend time there. I don't think anyone really regrets spending time with family during those times.

His passing made me think a lot about eternal families and how grateful I am to be a part of one.  It eases the sting of separation, reminds you that it isn't a termination, just a separation.  At the funeral my great uncle Joe related the experience of his brother leaving after getting married.  He was just going on a greater adventure and he would see him again.  I am so grateful for the gospel and our knowledge of the plan of salvation.  I know I will see my Grandpa again.

Ultrasound Picture

Wednesday February 8th
Words cannot describe how much relief I felt when I saw our baby on the ultrasound.  The baby raised their arm when we first saw the picture and it was like it was putting its hand in its mouth.  (Wow, it will be a lot easier to write about it when we know if its a girl or a boy.) The heartbeat was nice and strong and the growth was right on track.  I had been so worried beforehand that something was wrong or that there wasn't a baby and I was just crazy.  I think I had read a little too much on Mary I who had phantom pregnancies.

So far James and I both think our little one is a girl.  What do you think?  My next appointment is March 7th, I'm not sure if I have an ultrasound scheduled because I'll only be 17 weeks at that point.  I think you usually have that ultrasound at 19 or 20 weeks?

Pants!

James and I went shopping a few weekends ago. My sister-in-law Becky gave me an H&M gift card for Christmas so I thought I could get a jump on maternity shopping. Not so much. Regular H&M clothes are cheap but their Mama line is not. On our way out of the mall we stopped by the Gap so I could compare prices. I found a pair on clearance for about $16. They were on sale for an additional 40% off the lowest marked price.
I love finding deals, it makes me feel like Hilary!

12 weeks!

Apparently our little sprout is the size of a plum! I haven't really been sick until this week. For some reason my morning sickness has been ramped up to eleven where it had been at maybe a four or five. I have my first ultrasound in less than a week and we are SO excited! I'll post a picture when we have one.
